Between 1st and 4th September, Dan Jackson and the team at Plas Gwynant Outdoor Education Centre will be taking on a sponsored challenge to travel almost 240km by bike and stand-up paddleboard from the Centre in North Wales to the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Smethwick. Here's how your school can get involved!

Idea 1: Walk a kilometre & bring a pound

During the week, organise for a group of your children to walk a kilometre around the school grounds, and let's see if Sandwell school pupils can collectively walk the same distance (or further!) than Dan will be travelling.

To take part, each pupil can bring a pound to school to donate.

How about taking a short video and sending it to us so that we can share on our socials and help celebrate and spread the word?

Idea 2: A 235km sponsored event

Walk, run, hop, scoot, skip, roll... as many miles as you can this summer! We're setting you the challenge to cover the equivalent distance in kilometres from your school to Plas Gwynant Outdoor Education Centre in North Wales!

Set up a Just Giving event or similar, and ask the children and parents to get sponsored or donate as they cover part of the distance. Ask them to share proof, such as a step counter, bike speedometer, strava entry, etc, and let's see if your pupils can cover the same distance as Dan and the team!
If you have any more ideas, or if you would like your school to be involved in the event please email plas_gwynant@sandwell.gov.uk.

For now, I'd better get training!

See you soon,
